Lois grew up in the Baltimore area and now lives in Towson, Maryland with her husband, Randy. She did her undergraduate work at the Maryland Institute of Art and received her Masters degree in Art Education from Towson University. She taught Art in Baltimore County Schools for thirty years. It was during her summer vacations that she first became interested in painting. Lois took her first watercolor workshop in 1984 with Skip Lawrence in Maine. Since then she has studied with Fritz Briggs, Don Getz, Judy Wagner, Martha Manns, Linda Doll and others.

Lois is represented by Diddywopps and Keeffers Gallery, is a signature member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society, and has served on the board of directors for BWS. She has taught workshops for Hopkins University and Plaza Art. Her paintings hang in many private collections through out the country. Lois’ paintings have received numerous awards. Lois enjoys painting in watercolor because of the beautiful way in which colors flow into one another. Her favorite part of the painting process is in the beginning, when she paints the first color wash. While the paper is wet, she paints in the mid tones, saving the whites. This is the time to paint colors very freely and the beautiful intermingling takes place. Recently, Lois has expanded her painting medium to include Acrylics and oils. She believes the each medium has its own appeal and its own rewards.

Lois considers her paintings to be the visual expression of her thinking. It is through her paintings that she hopes to communicate her thoughts and feelings about the subjects she paints.
